In my efforts to lead a more balanced life, I’ve been working on building two new habits.
-I’ve been to bed before midnight every night.
-I’ve flossed before bed every night.
Flossing has turned out to be a surprisingly easy habit to build. It’s not particularly fun, but it also doesn’t take very long and it’s easy to roll into the night-time teeth brushing routine.
As a lifelong insomniac, I’m skeptical of how long the bed time habit can last. But so far, so good.
I remember reading somewhere that it takes three weeks to build a new habit. So, in theory anyway, I’m already there with these two. Leo Babauta over at zenhabits.net suggests adding a new habit every month. By the end of the year, you’ll have made some dramatic changes in your life. (And he points out that even if only half of them stick, you’ll still have made some real changes.)
Now to think about a new habit for February….
