Lately, I’ve been playing Words with Friends on my phone. I play with three people I know, and with three strangers. It’s fun, and I appreciate the kick in the pants that’s it’s giving my vocabulary.
There aren’t that many words that use a “q” without a “u”. One that gets commonly used is “qi”, which is Chinese for life force (note: extremely loose translation there).
So my question is this: If the plural of “qi” is “qis” (it is), is it pronounced “cheese”….and if so, how does it taste?
(I may have a little too much time on my hands.)
