Today’s Google doodle celebrates the 161th birthday of Antonio Gaudi. Gaudi, in case you do not know, was a Spanish architect and the leader of Catalan modernism. His creations (far too fanciful to be called something as simple as “buildings”) are scattered around Barcelona. Casa Batllo and the rooftop of Casa Mila (also known as La Pedrera) are particular favorites of mine.
I haven’t been to Barcelona in a few years (ok, more like 13). Last time I was there, the roof was still not on la Sagrada Familia, but I have heard that it is now. I’d like to go back and see it….and to walk again on the Gaudi-designed sidewalk tiles. (Yes, even the sidewalks in Barcelona are pretty.)
