A Year in Review, the Musical Version

So it’s time for the obligatory year-end recap, but, in all honesty, I’m tired of them. Not to mention, if you’ve been reading this blog at all, you already know what happened. (Plus, it’s the same every year. Things change, but the overall vibe is the same. And I still have more fun than almost anyone else I know.) Instead, I figured I’d do a different kind of obligatory year-end recap, and tell you what songs were in heavy rotation in 2012. So, in no particular order…..

The Only Place–Best Coast
45–Gaslight Anthem
Easy to Love–the Jezabels
Lights–Elie Golding
Wandering Star & Dark Star–Polica
Ho Hey & Stubborn Love–the Lumineers
Titanium–David Guetta f. Sia
Laura–Bat for Lashes
Breathing Underwater–Metric
Video Games–Lana del Rey
Little Talks & Love Love Love–Of Monsters and Men
SuperBass–Nicki Minaj
Every Night I Say a Prayer–Little Boots
Helena Beat–Foster the People
Shake It Out–Florence + the Machine

And, just for the record, I’m all about the free-but-legal downloads. Here’s where I find them:

iTunes offers a free song or two most weeks
Spin Magazine occasionally offers free downloads (through iTunes)
New music from Y-Not Radio (the current incarnation of the defunct Y-100)

Hopefully, you can find something there that you like, too. Enjoy!
