Eating Asheville

I had no idea that Asheville was such a food town–lots of great restaurants, and so proud of their locally sourced food.  Asheville is apparently also “Beer City” with more microbrews per capita than anywhere else in the US.  We had some absolutely stunning meals.  Here are some of the highlights:

pumpkin-ginger bread from Early Girl Eatery

Cubano burrito from Salsa!

buttermilk fried chicken from the Moose Cafe

the BLT at 12 Bones

roasted beet gnocchi with asparagus & preserved lemon in a garlic cream sauce at 151 Boutique Bar & Kitchen

masala chai liquid truffle & chocolate macaron at the French Broad Chocolate Lounge

So much good food….but my favorite, hands down, was the Cubano burrito (so unbelievably yummy) and the liquid truffle (which is pretty darn close to heaven).  Next time I’m in Asheville (and there will be a next time), I’ll be getting both of those again.
