Painting with Fire

Over the weekend, my brother and I had the pleasure of taking the “Painting with Fire” class with Barbara Lewis. This class covered torch-fired enamelling (should that be one L or 2? Spelling police–please chime in!)
Barbara is an excellent and extremely generous teacher. All of the materials were covered in the class fee, and we all walked out of there with many, many enamelled pieces. (Seriously. One L or 2?) My only less-than-100% positive feedback is that most of the work was done on beads, and it might have been nice to do more flat forms. But that’s minor. We learned a lot, we made a lot, and we had a good time.
Barbara is the author of “Torch-Fired Enamel Jewelry: A Workshop in Painting with Fire” (which I paged through–it’s totally excellent!) and host of paintingwithfire.ning.com, an online community about torch-fired enamel.
I’ll post pics of what I made soon….
